Wow. It's been awhile since I've posted and I've got several images to share today. As the end of summer draws near, I want to finish up as many sessions as I can, so we can have the beauty of our earth in the summertime filling the backgrounds of my images. Without further ado.................Here is a sweet boy named Charlie, who recently turned 2. And below him is another sweetheart named Faith, who also just had her 2nd birthday. Both of them were a delight to photograph.

Miles just turned 2 and his little brother Griffin is 3 months old. I had the pleasure of doing Miles' 1 yr session and now here he is at 2 and he's got himself a little brother! We tried so hard to have the boys in a picture together, but little Miles was getting over being sick and he just wasn't up for it. We'll have to try again next time. By the way Miles, I love your new bike. It's awesome buddy!!

This little dolly arrived into this world just a few days early and so we were able to take her first pictures just before I left for vacation. Sweet timing! She slept like a dream and only woke to eat a couple times during our session. She made my job easy-peasy.
I love the cleft in her chin. It was the first thing I noticed about her sweet little face when they arrived at my house. I just love doing newborn sessions. The bonus of this session was that Reese gave us lots of precious little smiles.........

Jack Henry is 3 months old and quite the little lover...when I did his photo shoot he was very happy in the arms of his Mama and Grandma...and loved to be snuggled tight and close to go to sleep. In between cat naps he would be wide awake and ready for action, so we took those moments to get some picture takin' done and to capture those big blue eyes he's got.....What a terrific Mommy he has....a real pleasure! And Daddy is deployed right now, so these pics will be especially meaningful to him so, so far away from his little guy!

Just 12 days old for his photo session debut.

He has such a sweet little face............very handsome newborn!

It was a privilege to get to photograph this little guy who is not

only the first boy, having 2 big sisters to welcome him home,

but he is also the only boy grandbaby for this family in many years.

He was a celebrity for them before he even arrived!

Our baby girl got all of her long, long hair cut off this week. It was definitely harder on Mom than her. She loves her new hairdo.....and well, I guess it's growing on me.

The good part was that she was able to donate her hair to the locks of love progam.

Miss Brierre is turning 3 years old later this month and she was such a good girl for her session. I had a great time with her and her Mommy at the park. The weather was perfect and I had just enough suckers and balloons in my bag to keep her engaged for over 2 hours(!) of shooting. Okay maybe we did throw in a little Dora the Explorer and Swiper the Fox fantasy play to keep her interested. With all the trees in the park, she was quite entertained by the notion that Swiper was hiding behind any number of trees and would possibly show himself at any moment, and he might even swipe her suckers if we weren't careful. Oh, to be a child again........

So sweet. So innocent. So real.

Baby Ben was just 8 days old for his session. What a honey he was.

So tiny and sweet. He is Mom and Dad's first baby and they are

so in love with this little guy; you can almost reach out and touch

the love in the air around this family! I am so grateful that they entrusted me

to capture these early moments of their sweet boy's life.

Had an urge to post signs of spring at our house as of late..............

First, bleeding hearts in bloom (one of my faves),

Sophie turns 1!

We sure had fun with Sophie's 1 year session, and she did amazingly well for her age.

She cooperated for well over an hour of actual photography where there was

picture snappin' and strawberry eatin'

(Mom and Dad bribed her with strawberries because she LOVES them)

And between the strawberries and Mom and Dad's huge effort they put in to

keep her looking at the camera, we got lots of good pictures! This is just a sampling.

Sophie's Mom has already said it will be very hard to choose which pictures for her order.

I would have the same problem, because I have lots and lots of favorites too!

A few years back, I decided to do a little matchmaking and introduced my co-worker, Shannon,

to my husband's good friend, Jason. I usually turn away from matchmaking,

but something told me these two just might be an awesome couple.

Well, my intuition was right on this one and it turned

out with a "happily ever after" story. The two of them married June 5, 2009 and

look what arrived about 10 months later................

Got to have my sweet little niece over this weekend and

couldn't pass up the chance to take lots of pictures of her.

She has got the bluest eyes I've seen in a long time

and I'm in love with her curly blonde hair.

Her and Liza played ALL day long and had a really great day.

It was hard to let her go back home at the end of the day and I missed her a lot today.

This little girl was so fun to photograph.

She was just over 8 weeks old and was so good

for our entire session. When she got tired, we just gave

her the binkie and she had a nice little nap. We got some

dreamy pictures of her asleep and then awake she was again

and back to being the greatest little model ever!

Thanks Amy and Jeff for having me over and letting me take these

pictures of your beautiful daughter AND get my baby fix all at the same time.

She is just a doll.

It was a great experience and the bonus of it all was that

I got to use my brand new Nikon 35mm F1.8 lens,

and I LOVED the results!

They are super easy to use with Photoshop.

Just drag your pictures onto them and voila, you've got a little collage.

I like easy and I like freebies, so this is all good.

This is a couple little snapshots I took of twins, Ellie and Avery, at a birthday party recently.

Miss Ellie is in the upper photo and Miss Avery is in the lower one.

They are identical, but Miss Ellie is thus far a couple pounds bigger than her sissy

and she's got the CHEEKS to prove it! They arrived a few weeks early, but have

done very well and their Mom and Dad couldn't be more thrilled.

It's going to be fun watching them grow up.

Tonight she showed me she could write out the alphabet.

Didn't even know she could do that.

She's learning so fast, it makes my head spin.

The best part of this baby of mine?

He was hard at it for quite a while.

He practically broke a sweat.

I practically broke a sweat chasing him and calling out his name in hopes that

he would look at me and quit concentrating so hard to keep that wagon rolling.

One year olds can work really hard AND concentrate hard too.

The little Osh Kosh bibs were so darn cute and the

Finally getting around to blogging again and I'm starting with a post

of my daughter to test out the upload process from Flickr.

This was taken out on the boat during vacation on Whitefish lake in northern Minnesota.

I embellished it a bit with the fun features on Picnik.

She was so excited to go fishing and even caught her first sunny!

Also had my first photo session with sweet little Miles who turned 1 recently.

He was such a good sport and loved pushing his little red wagon around.

His Mom was awesome too and so helpful trying to get his attention to the camera. Thanks Steph!

All in all, my first photo shoot experience was quite awesome.

A definite eye opener to many facets of this whole field of photography.

I've been working hard organizing and editing the 250+ photos I took of him, all the while, my mind races with excitement and yet full of questions at the same time......and so the learning curve continues.

Lately, I have found myself becoming increasingly obsessed with visiting blogs.

I get all excited when I find a link to a new blog.

A blog of someone, somewhere in this world, that wants to share about themselves,

their family, or their business or career.

But honestly, what thrills me the most about visting a blog is the ones with photos.... professional photos.

Yep, my obsession is reading photographer blogs and seeing snippets of their photos posted,

on nearly a daily basis, right on their blog.

This all started with my own growing interest in the world of photography a few years back. I took a class on black and white photography with a 35mm SLR. I got a digital camera point and shoot after that and starting taking LOTS of photos. I always wanted to know more about how to get a better picture. Then in 2008, my interest went through the roof after I took my kids to a local photographer who has an amazing talent with natural light photography. It was after that experience, that the passion zoomed to the next level. Even so, it took a whole year after that session to get a good DSLR for myself. I finally bought my first DSLR in March 2009; a Nikon D90. I love the camera and have learned so much thru reading and practicing shooting. For anyone that knows cameras, you would know that the D90 is not at the top of the DSLR market, none the less, it certainly has a great reputation for the awesome job it does in producing amazing pictures with the right person and knowlege behind the lens. In this business, there is always room to grow to the higher end Nikons and lenses which is exciting in and of itself.

Mind you all this photography equipment comes with a pretty big price tag, so it's hard to say when I'll be "upgrading". For now, I am completely satisfied with the D90 and will ride this wave as far as it will take me.

So why my own blog?

Well, from time to time over the past year,

I found myself thinking about whether I would ever start my own blog.

After all, I'm not a professional photographer.

In fact, I would just call myself an apprentice or wanna-be pro someday.

Yet the idea of a blog appealed to me. I like to write, and I love to take pictures.

With a blog, I could do both.

So today I decided, why not? Everybody's got to start somewhere.

So here I am, blogging.

It's pretty easy I must say.

So what's my blogging plan?

My plan is that once I get some interest and eventually book sessions (actual people that would want me to take pictures of them or their children....lol), I will post some shots and comments from their session here.

Until I get to that point, I will keep shooting my own kids, family, friends and post some of that here too.

It will make good practice, in the event that I can actually be a "photographer" someday.

Either way, I'm keeping the good Lord in the lead here and see where he wants to take me on this journey.

I will do my best to humbly follow.
